Last month I visited Amsterdam for a long weekend, again with my boyfriend Chris.
We stayed in the AMAZING Zoku Hotel, the hotel is an apartment/hotel concept and it was literally the coolest place I have ever been.
The image above is the lobby of the hotel, how gorgeous are the plants!?
When we arrived we soon realised that it was a self check-in system but there were still members of staff on hand to direct us, you even get to make your own room keys! We then headed on to our room, we had a kitchen and living room area, a bathroom and a lovely cosy bed. I say cosy because to get to the bed you had to go up the stairs which you pull out from the wall underneath the bed. There were a lot of cute details in our room, art work which you could change for other art work at the end of your corridor, a little desk underneath the bed and even a trapeze which you could swing from. In our room was everything we needed, they had thought of every detail.
I loved everything about our room, right down to the cutlery.

The hotel was very much central in Amsterdam, it was around a 20 minute walk to the main part.
Once we had arrived we headed out and about to explore the local area and get our bearings.
I've been to Amsterdam once before and I also did a blog post about my previous trip, but Chris had been many times so he knew his way round better than me.
When I'd been before I hadn't experienced the coffee shops, but this time I was able to. I feel like it is something you have to do there as it is all part of the Amsterdam experience.
We didn't go to the more mainstream places and instead chose the quieter less rowdy coffee shops. My favourite was Barneys Lounge which wasn't far from our hotel. There is a bigger Barneys more central of Amsterdam but this one was only small and super chilled, I could of sat in there all day.

A place that I would completely recommend visiting whilst in Amsterdam is Anne Frank's house.
It is a truly surreal and emotional experience and it just puts the war into perspective. It feels so personal being in their home that they lived in through the war and seeing her exact diary and writing.
I feel there isn't much more to elaborate on because you really need to see it for yourself.
I'd recommend purchasing tickets online before you go to avoid the ques. You can choose a time slot to go, ours was between 12:15 and 13:15 so we could go anytime within the hour and spend as long as we wanted actually in the museum. Tickets aren't expensive at all.

Whilst we were there we also enjoyed so much delicious food but I enjoyed it that much I forgot to actually take a picture of any of it. But one thing I will say is that there is so much variety food wise, and everything is always so fresh and made to order. There is also lots of Vegan places!
The canals are so beautiful and there is such a cool chilled vibe around the city. I think it is a great place for fashion too, especially streetwear. Since returning home, I've been doing some research about moving there as I fell in love with the place so much. But I can keep dreaming I suppose.
I should have some images from my film camera coming soon too.
